Cecilia Munoz was appointed today the director of the Domestic Policy Council at the White House. As director of the domestic policy shop, Mrs. Munoz will have a portfolio that includes health care and education. The current Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, she has also served as Pres. Obama’s point person on immigration reform, having once served as a vice president of the National Council of La Raza, the largest national Hispanic civil rights organization. Mrs. Munoz is succeeding Melody Barnes, who resigned at the end of the year to spend more time with her family.

White House domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes was spotted last week at the Atlantic Forum, at the Newseum in Washington, DC. I was close to putting an APB out on Ms. Barnes because it has been a while since we saw her! The third Annual Washington Ideas Forum brought in more than 60 policy makers, business leaders, and top journalists for a series of conversations and in-depth interviews about the direction of the country.
