It was a room full of women yesterday at the 3rd annual Women in the World Summit. Hosted by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, the summit brings together powerful women from every realm including politics, fashion, and media and entertainment.According to the Daily Beast website, “The Summit is centered on vivid journalistic storytelling, featuring inspiring women and men from diverse cultures and backgrounds. From CEOs and world leaders to artists, activists and firebrand dissidents, we tell the stories of the courageous and intelligent women who are battling the status quo in their countries, picking up the pieces in the aftermath of war and shattering glass ceilings in every sector.”
“This is not a summit that defines women’s issues as somehow divorced from all the other human and economic predicaments,” stated Tina Brown, editor in chief of The Daily Beast/Newsweek.
The three day conference is being held at the David Koch Theater in New York City and some of the women expected attend include Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Attorney General of California Kamala Harris, Senior Adviser to the President Valerie Jarrett, feminist Gloria Steinem, and Managing Director of IMF Christine Lagarde.
